About Ordinary Golf

Three golfers on a frosty morning at Saffron Walden GC

About the site

There’s no shortage of golf content out there, but so much of it is focused on either analysing the top end of the professional game, self-described gurus offering swing tips, or extremely good players playing at extremely nice golf courses.

We are both pretty average players ourselves, and there are millions of ordinary golfers out there just like us.

So we decided to create a site written by (and for) all the other golfers out there who might be very ordinary, but still love the game.

We plan to write about our experience of playing golf, a bit about watching the professional version, and reviews of any courses we get to play.

Eddie

Eddie’s golfing journey began at the age of around 13, first at a council pitch & putt outside Derby, then progressing to 18 hole golf at Allestree Golf Club (alas no more), before joining Chevin Golf Club as a junior. Like many of us, golf took a bit of a back seat as work and family life took over, but in 2020 he joined the delightful Saffron Walden Golf Club in the north west corner of Essex, England, which is where he met Dave. Eddie currently plays off a 10.5 index, which has been creeping up in the wrong direction of late.

You can connect with Eddie on Twitter or Linkedin.

Dave

Dave started playing golf at around 10 years old and was a regular player as a junior, but played irregularly for many years before joining his local club Saffron Walden during the pandemic. Now playing regularly again and organising golf trips with an ambition to tick off all the Open courses in the UK in the coming years. Dave is off 14.8 index and is trending downwards, for just now anyway.

Feel free to connect with Dave on Twitter or Linkedin
